Commercial Kitchens

Hood Cleaning - $1500 + GST
Fire Suppression System Service - $1500 + GST
Combined Hood Cleaning & Fire Spuppression - $1900 + GST

Commercial Kitchens are required to have their exhaust hoods professionally cleaned and have their in-hood wet-chemical Fire Suppression Systems serviced regularly. Combining both these services into the same visit is both efficient and cost effective. Our Flat Rate services for commercial kitchens include cleaning and/or fire suppression service on up to 3 hoods. Bookings are available for either after kitchen close or on non-operating days.

The National Fire Code – 2023 Alberta Edition specifies that ” the use, inspection and maintenance of commercial cooking equipment exhaust and fire protection systems shall be in conformance with NFPA 96, “Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations.”” Commercial Kitchen Fire Suppression Systems must also be maintained in accordance with NFPA 17A, “Standard for Wet Chemical Extinguishing Systems”.

Fire Suppression Systems require a maintenance service every 6 months, including replacement of fusible links, nozzle caps, and cartridges as needed.

Exhaust Hoods require professional cleaning regularly, with the frequency determined by the intensity of the cooking operations:

  • Once per Month for solid fuel cooking operations
  • Every 3 months for 24 hour operations or other high intensity cooking
  • Every 6 months for most other commercial cooking operations
  • Every 12 months for some low volume cooking operations such as churches and seasonal businesses

The service must be scheduled for a time when your kitchen is not being used to cook. Our technicians must work in the hood above the cook line, and it is not safe to do so while the appliances are hot. For most restaurants this means booking after the kitchen is closed for the night, however book on non-operating days provided there are admin or prep staff present to give us access. Service time depends on the number of hoods, however normally 4-6 hours is required for a complete cleaning and fire system maintenance.

  • All parts of the system must be accessible to the technician performing service. All obstructions such as boxes, cleaning supplies, or other clutter stored in front of(or below) system components must be moved prior to service beginning. Proper covers should be available for all appliances.
  • If the system is connected to a fire alarm system, make arrangements with your monitoring provider to prevent a fire department response while testing.
  • Safe and accessible roof access is required for cleaning. Please ensure staff on site know where roof access is located and have any keys required.
  • Staff should be informed to refrain from entering the work area during cleaning due to the chemicals being used.
